Two months ago, my cousin came over to my house to visit. While we were chatting, she told me about something new she had been trying for her hair that had been making it grow a lot faster and making it feel healthier in general. I was immediately interested because I am always looking for new things to keep my hair healthy and strong.
When she told me she had started adding whole coffee beans to her shampoo, I was very intrigued. Because caffeine is a natural stimulant, it made sense that it would be good for your hair. I went to Target that same night to get a bag of whole coffee beans so that I could try it out! Yesterday was exactly two months since I started, and guys….I am OBSESSED!
My hair naturally grows pretty fast, so if you see in the before and after pics below, it definitely grew a couple of inches, but that’s pretty standard for me. What I did notice is that my layers grew in a TON and my hair looks and feels thicker. The ends look a little thin, but that’s because I desperately need a trim! However, the body of my hair just looks way more filled in and healthy. Both of these pictures were taken immediately after blow drying.
I’ve also noticed that my hair isn’t falling out as much in the shower, which is a huge deal for me! I used to lose about a head of hair each time I showered haha. Because my skin is on the dry side, I would sometimes get small flakes on my scalp, which I hated! After using the coffee beans for two months, that has completely gone away. Overall, my hair feels much healthier, softer, and thicker. My favorite part of having coffee beans in my daily shampoo is that it smells like a coffee shop each time I shower…and who wouldn’t love that?!
- I added a little more than half a cup of coffee beans to my shampoo bottle. You’ll have to take out a little bit of shampoo (if it’s a new bottle) to allow room for the beans.
- Let the coffee beans sit in the shampoo overnight before using. Your shampoo will turn brown and the coffee beans will settle to the bottom of the bottle.
- Each time I shampoo my hair, I let the shampoo sit for a few minutes, just to let the caffeine soak into my scalp and stimulate the follicles.
Let me know in the comments if y’all are going to try this out!
