Hello. Hello. I hope everyone is having a great week so far. One more day until Friday! Woo!
Today, I am doing a quick review on the LA Girl Foundation and Concealer. I have heard TONS of great things about these two products. It’s funny because I sometimes find that when 98% of the makeup world loves something, I normally don’t like it very much. Like the Makeup Forever foundation stick…everyone swoons over it and I’m just like….eh. But in this case….I am ON the bandwagon. These two products really, really impressed me.
First off, the price is RIGHT. The foundation is only $10 and the concealer is a whopping $5. That’s cheaper than some drug store foundations and concealers. If you compare that to high end brands, there’s just no comparison. My favorite high end foundation is $50 and my favorite high end concealer is $23….sooo there’s that.
I used a damp beauty sponge to apply, and they both blended out so easily, especially the concealer. Neither of them creased on me, like most foundations and concealers do. The coverage is also amazing. A little goes a long way with both of these products, so when you first use them, try a small amount and build up from there. The foundation is more of a dewy foundation, which is great for me because my skin is on the dry side. So if you have oily skin, I would definitely set it with a powder. The concealer reminds me of the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (which is one of my faves) because of the amount of coverage it has and how easy it is to blend. So, if you’re looking for a dupe or just don’t want to spend $28 on the NARS one, the LA Girl concealer should be your pick!
LA Girl has recently started selling at Ulta, but it doesn’t seem like they carry all of the shades….or they’re just always sold out. Either way, it’s annoying, so I prefer to purchase directly from their website. I am wearing foundation shade Warm Beige and concealer shade Pure Beige in the picture above. ***If you decide to purchase online, keep in mind that the shades look much darker on their website.
TIP: Sometimes buying foundations and concealers online is difficult because it’s hard to tell what shade you are. An easy fix for me when it comes to picking your shade online is to go to YouTube and look for swatches of the shades. 99% of the time, you will find someone that has your skin tone and they will tell you what shade is best for you. That is exactly what I did and the colors I chose were perfect. An example of what you can search for is “LA Girl foundation swatches” or “LA Girl foundation for medium skin”, and then go from there.
The only bad review I have is, I really don’t care for the applicator on the concealer. It’s like a small brush, and I prefer more of a doe foot applicator. But for $5, I can’t really complain. Overall, I think these two products definitely live up to the hype and I would 100% recommend them. To be honest, I actually like these better than a lot of high end foundations and concealers I’ve tried. And I’ve tried a LOT. The coverage, the formula, the wear power, and the blendability are all A++ in my book!
Well…it’s time for me to start packing for Vegas!! We’re celebrating our 3 year anniversary next week, so we’re leaving on Sunday. I have soo much to do before then, so these next few days will definitely be productive. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
