Who agrees with me that mascara makes all the difference in completing a makeup look? If I had to choose ONE makeup product to wear for the rest of my life, it would 100% be mascara. For me, it just gives my face life and opens up my eyes so much. I’ve gotten some questions on how I get my lashes to look so long and full, so I figured I would do a whole post dedicated to it!
Let me begin by saying that my lashes are NOT long at all (as you can see in my before pic). They’re actually pretty short and stumpy lol. They are however, really curly, which is why I don’t curl my lashes. So, I give all of my long, full lash credit to the products I use.
Product Breakdown
I have recently been adding in two products to my lash routine that have CHANGED the game for me. One being Rodan + Fields Lash Boost (which I will be talking about in a later post), and the second (and most important) thing being THIS lash primer. I think this primer makes ALL the difference. Even if you were to use the worst mascara ever, your lashes would still look good if you use the primer first. However, I am pretty obsessed with the mascaras I use and I think they help a TON with lengthening and thickening way better than others I’ve used. I have two favorites that I always pull for depending on how I want my lashes to look.
If I’m wearing more natural, every day makeup, then I use THIS mascara to lengthen and separate my lashes. Because the formula of this mascara is a little more “liquidy” or “thin”, it makes them look really fluttery and wispy. If you like that look, then you will love this mascara. I’ve been using it for years and don’t think I will ever stop. I love how skinny the wand is, so it makes it really easy to get to every lash, and it’s great for your lower lashes.
If I’m wearing a full face of makeup with heavy eye shadow, and I want more dramatic lashes, then I use THIS one, which makes my lashes look really full and voluminous. The consistency of this mascara is much thicker than the other one, so it will give more of a “clumpy” lash look, but in a good way.
My Routine
Apply TWO generous coats of the lash primer. After you apply the first coat, let it get a bit tacky before you apply the second coat. This will help the second coat to grab on to the first and make your lashes look that much longer and fuller.
Pro Tip: when applying your primer and mascara, the most important thing you should do is start at the root of your lashes, then blink them against the brush as much as you can and slowly swipe the wand up. This will sort of “tease” your lashes and will make a huge difference in the length and volume.
Then apply TWO generous coats of your mascara of choice.
Lastly, apply mascara to your lower lash line. I always apply two coats.
I hope y’all enjoyed this post! Getting long, full lashes really has everything to do with the products you’re using, and the ones I listed are my holy grails, especially the lash primer. Since I started using it, it has cut down the application time by at least half! I used to spend FOREVER adding so many coats of mascara to get my lashes to look the way I wanted, and now I only need two coats. If y’all have any primers or mascaras that you swear by, I’d love to know in the comments so that I can try them!
Thanks so much for reading!
