One of the most controversial collabs recently in the makeup world has been this one….the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Vault Collection. I love all things Morphe and especially all things Jaclyn Hill, but I heard so many bad reviews and disappointed makeup lovers when this collection was released. With Morphe and Jaclyn pulling all stock of the palettes and then releasing completely new ones with an updated formula, I just HAD to try out the collection for myself.
I filmed a video using 2 of the 4 palettes, and while I loved them, I have since used more of the shades in the other palettes and have found that I really think I have a favorite. So if you’re not going to be buying the whole collection, see my thoughts below on which are my favorites!
The Palettes
My #1 favorite in the Vault Collection is the Ring the Alarm Palette. Not only did it swatch the best out of all the palettes, but in my opinion it’s the most versatile and would be used the most out of the collection. The shadows in this palette are SO unbelievably creamy and pigmented, my jaw literally fell to the floor when I touched them (so dramatic, I tell ya hahaha). They are soft, they are buttery, they are amazing. For some reason, I felt that this palette had the best swatches and they blend out the easiest out of all of them when applied. That’s not to say the others aren’t great, but this one was just super dreamy. And just LOOK at these shades!!! (insert heart eye emoji)
My second favorite is the Armed & Gorgeous Palette. This was a super close second, but I personally just prefer the tones in the Ring the Alarm palette a little bit more over this one, so that’s what pushed it to second. This palette SCREAMS Fall, and it just makes me so happy lol. I can’t get over how STUNNING the shade “Coin” is. You’ll see me use it in the tutorial and it’s just PERFECTION.
My next favorite of the collection is the Bling Boss Palette. I LOVE this palette and all of the shades. I mean, just LOOK at that bright purple shade. As a makeup lover, it has me DROOLING! I think it’s so fun and I don’t have anything like it in my collection. The reason it moved down to third place for me is because this is not a palette I would use as often as the other two. Also, a couple of the matte shades were a little patchy and I had to build up the swatch (Sparks and Rockstar). That being said, I still love this palette and think it’s so beautiful and worth the $15.
My least favorite in the collection is the Dark Magic Palette. This is the main palette I used in the tutorial, and while I do think it’s great in terms of formula, I just know that this is not a palette I will grab very often. 99% of the time, I do not use cool toned, darker shades like these. The only shade I could see myself using a ton would be “Poof”, because it’s the perfect shadow to set my eye shadow primer. However, I am glad I have this palette for days when I want to play with my makeup and do something different.
Final Thoughts
I 100% think that the Vault Collection is worth the buy. With the exception of a couple of shades, I think the shadows blended out so beautifully. I was actually very pleasantly surprised by the matte shadows because they are super creamy. Matte shadows can tend to be on the powdery side, and these are quite the opposite.
