When this concealer first came out a few months ago, I was so excited to try it because I had heard it compared to Tarte Shape Tape. I am not crazy about Tape Shape because it’s too drying for me, but I do love the coverage of it. So when I heard the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer would have the same coverage but it would be much more hydrating, I HAD to try it for myself.
A couple of days ago I did a wear test on the concealer to see how it held up after a long period of time. Jacob and I went out to take some photos, run some errands, and go to dinner, so we were out for about 9 hours. I think that’s a really good amount of time to test a makeup product. See my thoughts in the video below!
What I loved about it:
- The applicator and packaging. It has a doe foot applicator, which makes it really easy to apply. The bottle is also very sleek and I love that it looks like a mini version of their foundation. I’m a sucker for cute packaging!
- The blendability is amazing. The worst thing for me as a makeup lover is when it takes forever for a concealer to blend out. This concealer blends like a dream and your under eyes look perfect in seconds.
- After setting the concealer with powder, the finish is gorgeous. It makes your under eyes look so smooth and youthful.
- After wearing it for 9 hours, it didn’t move around or get cakey underneath my eyes like some concealers tend to do.
What I didn’t love:
- As you’ll see in the video above, it definitely creased on both my under-eyes and eye lids. I’ve used this concealer a few times with different setting powders and it has creased every time.
- After wearing this concealer for a long amount of time, my dark circles started to peek through a bit.
- It’s definitely more hydrating/dewy than Shape Tape, but I wouldn’t say it’s a super hydrating concealer. It has a thicker consistency, and I personally prefer a formula that isn’t so thick/heavy. With that being said, it didn’t dry up or get cakey under my eyes either.
Overall Thoughts:
I would say that this product is a middle of the line concealer for me. I did like a lot of things about it, but a deal breaker for me is if a concealer is going to crease on me or not. Yes, I have laugh lines under my eyes and I also have hooded lids (which makes me more prone to creasing), but I also have plenty of concealers that DON’T crease on me no matter what. If you are like me and have issues with creasing, then I don’t think this concealer would be great for you, especially if you’re planning to wear it for longer than a few hours.
