I’m so excited to be writing this post because today I’m sharing all of my holy grail, can’t-live-without makeup brushes! I’ve gotten a few requests on Instagram to do a post like this, so here it is! I know this list is rather lengthy, but I really wanted to encompass everything, whether you only wear light makeup or you wear a full face every day. This list has it all!
If you would rather see the video, it’s linked below! I figured it would be beneficial to also write a post, just in case y’all need to reference it at a later time! So here they are…..
Morphe M439: The best foundation brush I’ve ever used. This brush is great for either liquid or stick foundation. It’s so soft and dense, and blends out foundation so quickly and flawlessly.
Real Techniques Sculpting Brush: I use this brush when I’m blending out concealer on my face. I’ve been doing that lately when I still want the coverage of foundation, but don’t want to spend the time blending. If you’re interested in that, I have a video on exactly what I do HERE! This brush would also be really great for stick foundation or tinted moisturizer.
NYX Buffing Brush 03: This brush is perfect for powder foundation. My favorite is the Bare Minerals Original Powder Foundation. I put a little in the cap and swirl this brush in the product, then apply to my face. It’s the perfect density and blends out so easily.
NYX Dual Fiber Brush 26: When I’m finished putting on my foundation with my Beauty Blender, I use this brush to blend out the area around my brows, on the sides of my nose, on my chin, and around my mouth. Foundation tends to get cakey in those areas of my face, so this brush helps to smooth everything out. It would also be great to blend out concealer.
Morphe E3: After I set my concealer with setting powder, I use this brush to sweep off the excess powder. It’s so soft and blends really nicely. I think this brush would also be great to set your entire face with powder.
Real Techniques Setting Brush: I use this brush for cream contour/bronzing. I dip it into the cream contour shade and blend it in the hallows of my cheeks, around the temples and forehead, on the sides of my nose, and even run it through my crease just to give my eyes some dimension. If you have been wanting to try cream contour but are a little intimidated by it, try using this brush to blend rather than putting the product directly onto your face.
Morphe M527: The best bronzing brush EVER! This is a larger brush, but because of it’s tapered shape, it fits perfectly on the areas of the face where bronzer should go. It blends out bronzer so seamlessly and naturally. This is a great dupe for the Tom Ford bronzing brush, but a fraction of the cost!
Morphe E4: This brush is amazing for blush! It has an angled shape so it fits perfectly on the apples of the cheeks. It’s so soft and blends out the product like a dream! It picks up just enough product so that you don’t apply to much and your cheeks just have a perfect wash of color.
Morphe M510: If you’re looking for a great highlighter brush, look no further. This one is IT. I love the tapered shape and long bristles for precise application.
Anastasia Brow Brush #12: If you use brow powder or brow pomade, this brush is a must! The bristles are super firm, so it makes applying the product so much easier. And it has the brush on the other end so that you can blend out the product.
Morphe M334: Before I apply eye shadow, I have to prime my lids with a primer so that the eye shadow doesn’t crease and it lasts all day. I use this brush to apply the primer and it’s amazing! It makes it so easy to blend because of it’s angled shape and soft bristles.
Morphe E21: After I apply the eye shadow primer, I set it with a bone colored shadow or translucent powder using this brush. Setting your primer allows the shadows to blend more easily on top and it will prevent your eye shadow from creasing! I love the flat, angled shape of this brush. It fits perfectly all over the lid.
Morphe M441: This brush is the perfect fluffy blending brush and is such a staple! I use this to add the first shade of eye shadow to my crease and blend. This is also great if you’re just wanting to add a wash of color to your eyes, like bronzer, and you want something that’s going to be quick and easy to blend with.
Morphe M433: Another staple! This brush is great for blending shadow to the crease to deepen it up after the initial transition shade. It fits perfectly in the crease of the eye and is a great precision brush to have! This one and the M441 are my favorite blending brushes of all time.
Morphe M506: If you are looking for a detail brush to add deeper shades to the outer V of your eye, this one is it! Because it’s so small, it’s great for packing on color to the outer V.
Morphe JH41: The best brush for packing eye shadow onto your lids. The bristles are a little stiff, which makes it really easy to apply glitter, shimmer shades, or any type of shadow to your lid. This is another staple!
Morphe E18: This brush is amazing for blending shadow onto your lower lash line. It’s so soft, but also dense, so it smokes out the shadow beautifully. This brush would also work well to smudge out eyeliner for that smoky eye look.
Morphe E47: This one is great for cleaning up your eye shadow if you blend it out too far on the sides of your eyes or it just gets too messy. I’ll put a little translucent powder on it and clean up the sides of my eyes if I need to. It provides a really clean, sharp line so that your eye shadow looks very put together and neat. You could also use this to clean up your contour on your cheeks if you blend your bronzer too far down.
Sephora Small Shadow: The best brush for applying highlight to the inner corner of your eyes and brow bone. It’s small, rounded shape is perfect for those areas!
And that does it! My all-time favorite makeup brushes. I hope this post helped you decide which brushes to add to your collection. Whether you are just starting out or have been doing makeup for years, this post has some really amazing must-haves.
